***Important Information***
As of November 26th 2005 the online version of Aussie Rob's Options Scanner will no longer be available. This is due to the highly anticipated release of Aussie Rob's Lifestlye Trader Version 3.2. This new version of the software includes the scanner in the software itself and can be downloaded at http://www.aussierob.biz/downloads.htm from the downloads column on the right hand side.

To "Write a Covered Call" is to sell a Call Option against the Stock that you already own.

For Example: If stock is trading at $20 and you sell a $20 Call for $1, you are selling someone the right to buy your stock from you for $20. They are paying you $1 per share for that right.

To buy the Stock and sell a Call in the same transaction is called a "Buy Write". As per the above example, you're effectively buying the stock at a discounted price of only $19 instead of $20.

Writing a Naked Put is selling someone the right to "Put" the stock to you.

For Example: If stock is trading at $20 and you sell a $20 Put for $1, you are selling someone the right "Put" the stock to you at $20. They are paying you $1 per share for that right.
